Potato Harvest

We headed out to see what Ryan was up to today, he has been working on the electrical components of the potato equipment. You dump the potatoes from the trucks into the clod hopper, the vines and dirt are removed, the potatoes then go down the conveyor belt and through the potato piler which piles them into the cellar. The Potato cellar has large ventilation pipes that hook into the center which is called the plenum (refrigeration, swamp cooler) to keep the cellar evenly cooled for the potato storage. Potatoes are stored at around 42-43 degrees F and around 75-90% humidity.
